Tertiary and Complementary Colors

Here are a few examples of some projects that my students will be completing in the next few weeks as we wait for the ceramics projects to dry and fire. We will be working on the Elements and Principles of Art.

In this "apartment building," you see the tertiary colors yellow, green, and yellow-green:

There are six tertiary colors on the color wheel. Tertiary colors are a mix between a secondary color and one of the primary colors that makes that color.

yellow-green (i.e. lime green)
yellow-orange
blue-green
blue-purple
red-purple
red-orange

Here is one of the three projects we will be attempting for complementary colors*:
yellow - purple
red - green
blue - orange
